Authority

“One of the hard things about deception is that they can seem so appealing… And deception that misinterprets the word of God can be even more appealing… it seems right, and feels right, but taken within the whole council of scripture, it is missing the mark…

I must speak the truth in love in order to truly be your pastor…

My calling as pastor is to serve and please the Lord, by serving and protecting you in love… and the thing about genuine love is, it can be uneasy at times… but genuine love cannot fear the awkward conversation…

What gives us authority is being under authority!

Jesus himself was a man under authority… our authority in Christ begins and ends with the will and the desire of the Father…

“Drawing prayer circles isn’t some magic trick to get what you want from God. God is not a genie in a bottle, and your wish is not his command… (Authoritative prayer) starts with discerning what God wants, what God wills. and until his sovereign will becomes your sanctified wish, your prayer life will be unplugged from its power supply…” – Mark Batterson (The Circle Maker)

The key to the power and authority of Christ within our prayers, in our life, is when our will aligns with the will of God…

When we pray “in Jesus name” it’s not simply something we add on to the end of a prayer… those are not magic words… Think like an ambassador. To do something in someone’s name means to do it with their approval and in their authority… this should give us both balance, and great confidence in prayer…

John 14:13-14
And whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

The will of God takes precedent over our wills… In the Garden Jesus said to the Father, “not my will, but Yours be done…”
