Job

“His wealth was only surpassed by his character…”

There are many people within the Bible that suffered and did nothing to deserve it… Jesus did everything right and would face a cross…

It can be communicated in some Christian circles it’s a lack of faith to feel pain… like feeling hurt is somehow our fault…

Job spoke honestly of his feelings…

Job didn’t have the advantage of knowing the end of the book…

God can take what we can dish out…

We see in Job, that, though he wanted to argue his case before God, He never lost faith…

Upon finding out he had lost everything, his first response was worship…

Job was steadfast in his belief that he had an “advocate” in God, even when he couldn’t understand why he was enduring such great loss…

And he never doubted that God was living and alive…

God’s response doesn’t focus on Job’s questions and problems, but the greatness and power of God himself… He calls Job to trust Him because He is trustworthy… in refocusing Jobs attention on God He gives him a greater perspective on just who God is…

Job understands his limitations, his lack of knowledge, and trusted God knows what He’s doing…

Job could fight with his friends, but when it came to God he had nothing…

Job’s was only blessed when he blessed his friends… be gracious with those that don’t get it…

In our suffering and loss let us look to the character of Christ for strength in the valley…

• Not all suffering is a result of sin
• There is a danger of presuming on another’s suffering (the cause)
• It’s okay to feel your pain
• Some questions are not answered on this side of eternity, that doesn’t mean we should waver in our faith

Strive in Christ not to allow hardship to compromise good character…”
