Peace, Peace

“Peace in Luke 2:14 means: tranquility, harmony, quietness, rest…

So we have to ask ourselves a question, is the peace (fuller meaning of word) of God toward humanity conditional… and if so what are those conditions…
• Not all people know God’s peace, though it’s God’s desire…

There is peace, the peace of God “on earth” in the hearts of the shepherds, wiseman, Simeon, and Anna…
• There was no peace in the heart of Herod… Herod’s thirst for power, and evil would not allow him peace…

We will never have lasting peace until we’re in right relationship with God…
• If we’re running from God, if we’re living a lukewarm life, if we’re allowing be-setting and controlling sins into control our life… lasting peace will evade us…

• “No peace for the wicked”… and lovingly so.

• God doesn’t want us to have peace until our hearts are turned to Him…

• God’s not going to allow us to be comfortable as we’re running off a cliff… It would be cruel of God to give us only temporary peace and eternal pain because He wanted us to have comfortable lives… But God’s love allows us temporary turmoil that we can know eternal peace…

Know God Know Peace, No God No Peace…

God desires that we would know His joy and peace… – tranquility, harmony, quietness, rest…
• This doesn’t mean believers will not face hardships…

How does Paul know peace (tranquility, harmony, quietness, rest) in a world of Chaos?
• Prayer… and setting his mind on God and the things of God…

The Angel’s song was more than a sweet sounding melody…
• It was a song of praise (glory to God…)…
• It was a song of peace (on earth peace)…
• And it was a song of purpose (among those whom he is pleased)…

The message was clear… it is the gospel… this glorious God has come to us, He wants to heal the brokenness between God and humanity, and bring peace to the war raging in the hearts of men…”
