Jesus+

“The Galatian church was planted and growing but some un-doers came in to break up the good work Christ had done…

• This letter is about what it means to live free in Jesus… This was written to believers that were set free but didn’t know how to live free…

Galatians 1:3-8
• We see that the Father and Jesus are the source of both grace and peace and everybody is a candidate for His grace and peace…

The three things Jesus did for us…
• Gave Himself for our sins…
• Rescues us “from this present evil age”…
• And does it all according to the will of the Father…

In the light of this amazing gift, you’d think this would be something you’d hold onto tighter… Jesus Plus idea…

Two of the things that make these ideas (legalism) so appealing…
1. It offers a method of measurement…
2. It offers a feeling of superiority…

We need just as much grace and faith the day after our salvation as the day of our salvation…
• We never stop needing the work and blood of Christ within our lives… every day I live, I need His covering… grace and faith is a fountain we will never stop needing to drink from…

• Salvation is by grace and faith alone, not works…

The emphasis of legalism is on the outside appearances of a person, and is concerned with what others see…
• Matthew 23:5 – But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men…

• God does not look kindly upon those who corrupt His gospel… There will be a price for those that corrupt the gospel in this way…

Galatians 3:1-5, 25-29

V1-2 Paul is saying he preached the word clearly and rightly, then He calls them to their first experience with saving faith…

V3-5 “flesh” the idea is the dependency upon ourselves or our personal accomplishments, that base nature… rather than depending upon Jesus and His work…
• If Christ began His work in us in the Spirit, let us keep pressing into the Spirit to complete it…

V25-27 If we are in Christ we are son’s of the Living God… and if son’s then heirs of the promises of God…

V28-29 All the walls are torn down between each other… There is a brotherhood of believers, and no second-class citizens in God’s economy… in Christ, all these inferiorities we may feel we can let go of…

This book was written initially to believers to affirm what true faith in Jesus looks like… but it’s truths are also extended to those that do not yet believe…

If you’re looking to be good enough to earn grace, you’ll always be looking… if you’re looking in faith to the grace of God, it’ll always be there…

God is calling you to dedicate, or rededicate yourself to Him…

“God I repent, I’m sorry for my sins… Jesus I believe, and have faith, in who you are, and your work on the cross, and your resurrection… please come into my heart, and truly be Lord, Savor and King of my life…”

Believers; You remember your salvation, and how the Spirit moved on your heart… but recently you’ve been living a life of Jesus+… and you’ve lost sight of His grace and drifted into a form of legalism… in a sense trying to earn what Jesus has already graciously given you…

God help me to live in your grace and faith once more… restore again to me the joy of my salvation…”
