Let not your Hearts be Troubled: Pentecost

“There has been great misunderstanding… there has been great abuse… there has been great arrogance… when is comes to the Holy Spirit…

That this would be a point of unity not division… edification not arrogance… a balanced point not a point of extremes…

The Holy Spirit is not a “power” but a person, and deity, part of the trinity…

In Jesus’ closing words before His death on the cross… He made a special emphasis on the Holy Spirit…

Now all believers in Christ have the Holy Spirit in them… at conversion, the Spirit baptizes us into Christ/the body of Christ… in a subsequent and distinct experience, Christ will baptize us in the Holy Spirit… He is calling us to be Baptized in and immersed in the Holy Spirit…

John the Baptist immersed in Water, so Jesus immerses in the Holy Spirit…

The first century church was Pentecostal in nature… The heart of the Pentecostal movement is to get back to the power and presence of God that the first century church enjoyed… and to be used in that same way to transform our world for Christ…

The Holy Spirit’s primary desire is to glorify Jesus, and to bring glory to God… this ought to be the primary function of all our lives…

The Holy Spirit isn’t a means to an end… Humanism has twisted our view of God… Everything in all heaven and creation, in all the universe is a means to one end… the glory of God…

By living in this way, living in purer motives we do all those things better… Jesus lived to give glory to the Father, the Father exalted the Son, the Spirit points all to Jesus… It’s all the glory of God…

“May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering”

His glory is seen within the work of the Spirit in power within witnessing, and personal edification…

We don’t so much get the Holy Spirit, as the Holy Spirit gets us…

How are we baptized in the Holy Spirit, and what is the evidence?
• Ask… this is a gift for all believers… and you don’t have to be good enough to earn it… We also must believe that He will do it…

And for those that struggle with the idea that speaking in tongues as the initial physical evidence… scripture seems to support this idea… it was the one consistent sign…

Now this experience is more than a one-time moment, but God desires to continue to infill us…”
