“The word “sin” is a word that means to ‘miss the mark.’
• We all “sin” and miss the mark and Jesus loves us so much that when we miss it He gives us mercy and grace… if we follow Him…
James 4:17 – Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.
• What was sin again?
• What’s this verse telling us?
• Is that more than just not doing bad?
Matthew 5:43-45 – “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven…
1 Peter 3:9 – not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing.
That’s more than just not doing bad…
• Is that a hard thing to do? Is it hard to be nice to people that are not nice to you?
• How did Jesus treat people that were mean to Him?
Romans 5:8 – But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
We need to follow Jesus’ example and be good to people even if they are not good to us!
• Following Jesus is more than just not doing bad things, but relationship with Jesus and doing what He’s called us to do!…
• Gods called us to do good, to not do bad and to love Jesus with all of our hearts…
• We need to ask God to help us to do good, and then listen to Him? And if we know that we have sinned we need to ask Jesus to forgive us, and help us follow Him better…”
