“If you are a Christian, Jesus himself has placed the good seed in you, the Kingdom of God… don’t take for granted the beautiful gift you’ve received…
However the kingdom comes to us, we should value it beyond anything this world can offer… there is nothing in this world that comes close to its value…
• The one who sows the good seed is Jesus,
• the field is the world
• the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom
• the weeds are the sons of the evil one;
• the enemy who sowed them is the devil,
• the harvest is the end of the age;
• the reapers are angels.
God and the angels were not asleep at the wheel when Satan came into the picture…
I must bend to the words of God, not bend the words of God to me… if you turn God’s word into what sounds good to you a little here and there in scripture, it sets a bad standard, and it eventually sets you up for untruth…
Satan’s going to plant his lies, his evil intentions, and his influence in the hearts of people that we know as family, or friends, or coworkers…
Just as God’s Kingdom advances, so to the enemy is in competition for the same space… the battle is real… And even among those who are children of God, Satan will plant deceived souls, that will seek to lead others astray…
We must guard our hearts against what Satan is sowing… But take heart, God will eventually rectify this situation…
Our fruit reflects the reality of our souls… salvation is in faith alone… but that faith is a seed that will produce fruit… John said “bear fruit in keeping with repentance” …
Truth is we are not so good at knowing the wheat from the weeds… we need to be careful in our judgements…
Remember, we’re the wheat in this parable, these guys are not us… and the sower isn’t pulling out the weeds yet for a reason… But doesn’t this speak to our desire to make things right…
In love for us, In His love for the wheat, He allows the weeds to remain… Remember the great value of the Kingdom (44-46)… in pulling weeds He doesn’t want to harm the wheat that hold the Kingdom within them… Us…
2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish (not one seed of wheat), but for all to come to repentance.
Justice is coming, but there are still people yet to be saved… I’ve been a weed… God isn’t slow with His justice… He just cares too much to pull the plug on this earth until all that would come to Christ would come…
This parable doesn’t excuse sin… and does not contradict church discipline… but church discipline even at its best will not come close to God’s final work of separation…
In this parable it’s best to be the wheat… I am so thankful God transformed me into wheat from my fallen state…
So what’s the point:
• The great value of the Kingdom…
• Let us be slow to judge…
• Let us be wheat…”
