The Core Four: The Baptism in the Holy Spirit

“God wants to speak to us and we don’t want to cut off any avenue of His voice…

This must be more than a doctrine, it needs to be how we function… what we practice… what we live…

The desire of the Holy Spirit is to communicate with us, and in doing so He desires our inner transformation and spiritual empowerment…

Concerning the Baptism in the Holy Spirit it is a Subsequent work of grace…

His gifts are not to be a point of personal pride… but is to be lived out in humility and love…

If the gifts of and infilling of the Holy Spirit are from God, and He is Love, then let us live them out in love and not pride…

The Initial Physical Evidence is speaking in Tongues…

So why tongues…
1. Confirmation (Acts 2:4; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:6; Acts 10:46)
2. Adoration. Frees us to communicate the worship of our hearts that is inexpressible in our limited vocabulary. (1 Corinthians 14:14, 15).
3. Edification (1 Corinthians 14:3-9)
4. Intercession (Romans 8:26); (Ephesians 6:18) God uses us to work His purposes in the lives of others through the ministry of intercession.

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the desire of Jesus, and The Father… that He would fill our lives…

The normal believer’s experience we find in the book of Acts is Salvation… water baptism… Spirit baptism…

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is truly all about seeking Jesus… just running after Him… and in that Jesus will Baptism us in His Spirit…

True Pentecostals that embrace the ongoing work of the Spirit cannot get enough of Jesus…

“Scholars grope through deserted shrines in search of God, while He can be found by a lowly saint upon his knees.”

So how does one become baptized in the Holy Spirit?
• Ask… this is a gift for all believers…
• and you don’t have to be good enough to earn it…
• and you’ll know you’ve received it when you speak in tongues…

Don’t worry about speaking in tongues, focus on genuine, ardent seeking of God and He will do it…

Let us seek the presence of our God and ask Him to fill us with His Spirit… or to refill us… We cannot rush the Holy Spirit… God moves when His people wait in His presence…”
