“They were putting off Dorcas’ burial to see if a miracle would happen…
If Dorcas would of remained dead she would have already left quite a legacy… these widows were touched by the gifts of clothing that she had made for them…
Peter knew the need to focus, and the need for faith in prayer…
There is a lot of power in those quiet places of prayer… in privacy there can be greater concentration and earnestness in prayer…
So what was it about this woman that God chose to heal her? I believe it was her character and this moment in time…
We can see the Holy Spirit at work in two ways here; both are of equal value… Peter being used to raise her from the dead… and Dorcas in her acts of kindness and love…
These acts of love, before her death, helped those in need. They also brought greater prominence to the actual healing itself… people saw the deeds, the character and the heart of the women resurrected…
These are ministries that change the world for Christ… God has called us to this and nothing less…
Godly love is more than feelings, but it is a practical love…
She would eventually die again, but her story, her testimony would live on… Our ministries of love will outlive our mortal lives…
So we must ask ourselves, ‘What legacy will we leave for the glory of God…'”
